Payin’ the man
I finished our federal taxes tonight. Lucky you, I didn’t take any pictures of the exciting event, so here are a couple mood pictures instead.
When I was in college, I drove down to the post office shortly before midnight on April 15th to send off my taxes. Every year. That tells you the kind of person I am.
This does not work for Brad. The taxes, they would have been done by March at the latest if it were not for the very tardy receipt of a relevant form. Dude does not forget or procrastinate things. Or make calculation errors. Or get library fines.
However, I (who does all those things) am the one who actually computes all the taxes. And he doesn’t even really look them over too carefully. Go figure.
Could it be that I do make calculation errors frequently, and so I quadruple check every single line of the return? And read all the applicable instructions every year, even if they’re the same as last year? And dutifully check to see if we make enough money to be hit by the AMT or little enough to take the EIC, even though the answer is always the same? In other words, could it be my need to avoid my usual errors with something important like taxes?
Also perhaps the fact that it’s no fun and the NCAA tournament tends to be on around tax time…
